Romance Scam Reporting
Taxonomy Code: FN-1700.1470-720
Programs that provide a hotline, website or other mechanisms that people can use to report incidents in which scammers feign romantic intentions towards a victim (frequently older widowed or divorced women who may be computer literate but emotionally vulnerable), based on details victims freely post on dating and social media sites about their lives and personalities. Con artists gain their affection and then use the goodwill to commit fraud. Once people become victims by sending money, they will often be placed on a "sucker list" and their names and identities may be shared with other criminals making them vulnerable to retargeting in the future.
