Description:

Transitional living facility with 18 units for homeless families. Each family lives in a two- or three-bedroom apartment while enrolled in the program, and can stay up to 18 months. Services Offered: Provides homeless families with a unique opportunity for comprehensive, sustained assistance and education under one roof. Program activities are designed to assist the family in overcoming major life problems such as drug or alcohol addiction, domestic violence, sexual abuse, anger, hopelessness, etc., in a holistic and healing manner so they can focus on breaking the cycle of poverty, homelessness and dependency. Full participation in planned activities, workshops and counseling sessions is a major requirement. Family members learn practical living skills, such as cooking and meal planning, money management, parenting, as well as job readiness training, basic computer instruction, and academic skills-building that will prepare them for the world of work, permanent housing and eventually self-sufficiency.
