Connecting Link serves as an information and referral agency. They can provide financial assistance for utility shutoffs, evictions, first month!€™s rent, prescriptions, transportation to doctor!€™s appointments and transportation to the first few weeks of employment (until first pay), car repairs, and minor home repairs (Monongalia County only). Each request for assistance is done on a case-by-case basis, and they may be able to help with things not listed here under special circumstances. They also take applications for assistance via home repair work groups on behalf of Community Repair Partners for Monongalia and Preston Counties. You must provide proof of income for everyone in the household, picture ID, Social Security cards for everyone in the household, shutoff or eviction notices, prescriptions, etc. If you are eligible for any Federal or State Assistance Programs (through DHHR, United Mine Workers Union, etc.) you should as for help from those agencies first. If they cannot help you or can only pay part of a bill, you must bring in a letter from the agency stating that. You may be eligible for help with more than one bill every six (6) months. You cannot receive assistance for the same bill more than once a year. Exceptions can be made for medicines and certain types of transportation. If you receive assistance two (2) times in a two (2) year period, you will be required to go to Budget Counseling before you can receive assistance a third time. *See Notes section for locations.
