Description:

The program provides opportunity for self- sufficiency and improved living conditions to economically disadvantaged West Virginians. Offers on-the-job training in specific occupational areas with a contracted employer. The employer utilizes his/her training methods, facilities, and resources in shaping the customer into a skilled employee. The customer is exposed to and trained in all aspects of a specific job and given every opportunity to develop valuable skills. Offers assistance in locating and obtaining appropriate housing. Works with Employment for Independent Living (DHHR), On-The Job Training (Job Service), Stanley Tech Centers and sister companies to provide services :Human Resource Development and Employment, Inc. (HRDE) and Unity Housing with almost 1000 units of subsidized housing for the elderly, disabled and financially disadvantaged individuals. On-the-Job Training is available in every Region II county except for Kanawha. The Independent Living Program is Statewide.
