Description:
The West Virginia Division of Rehabilitation Services (DRS) helps people with disabilities establish and reach their vocational goals. The primary goal for all DRS clients is to become productive working citizens. The West Virginia Division of Rehabilitation Services (DRS) is a state agency that serves West Virginians with disabilities. The mission of DRS is to enable and empower individuals with disabilities to work and to live independently.
Services:
DRS operates two major programs. The vocational rehabilitation program helps people with disabilities get or keep a job. For those who are unable to work, the Disability Determination Section (DDS) determines eligibility for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI).
The vocational rehabilitation program helps eligible individuals improve their ability to succeed in employment. DRS has specially trained rehabilitation counselors who assist clients with evaluating their skills and interests to obtain vocational success. Rehabilitation counselors work one-on-one with clients to develop a plan for employment that is based on their interests, needs and abilities. DRS has 31 field office locations throughout West Virginia.
The Disability Determination Section processes Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) applications for the Social Security Administration. Case services for West Virginia are managed at offices in Charleston and Clarksburg.
Contact the Division of Rehabilitation Services to make referrals for VISIONS and eye glassess or hearing aids through the Lion's Club.
