Northwestern Area Agency on Aging

Description:

The Area Agencies on Aging (AAA) were created under the Older Americans Act of 1965. The Northwestern Area Agency on Aging is one of four Area Agencies on Aging in West Virginia funded by the West Virginia Bureau of Senior Services to administer federal and state funds for senior programs. The AAA funds aging programs for seniors in sixteen counties in West Virginia. This region is known as Region I. The AAA contracts with county aging programs to provide nutrition programs, transportation, and other social services. The AAA also provides technical assistance and support to county service providers and reviews administration of funds. Additional responsibilities include advocating on behalf of older persons, identifying the needs of the elderly and working to create avenues to enable the elderly to maintain their independence and dignity.
