Acting cooperatively from our various faith traditions, the Religious Coalition for Community Renewal (RCCR) develops projects and programs which help renew our community by identifying, addressing, and overcoming obstacles which keep people from decent, affordable housing. The non-profit organization has various programs assisting low income individuals with home ownership, home repairs as well as The Jubilee Housing Program: Home Ownership Program Jubilee Housing is a program developed to encourage and support affordable, safe, and well maintained home ownership. Jubilee Housing services include home buying and ownership education, budget and credit counseling, foreclosure prevention, reverse mortgage counseling, housing development, and low interest loans for home repairs. Home Builder Jubilee Housing has built and is building affordable homes in Charleston and Kanawha County. Jubilee Housing has built a 48 unit senior housing project in St Smith Street Station - Affordable Rental Housing Smith Street Station is a 29 unit furnished apartment facility for one- and two-person families. Smith Street Station is a quiet example of decent, safe, affordable housing. For more information contact Judy Snyder, (304) 346-3055. Smith Street Station: Smith Street Station is a three story apartment building, close to shopping, bus lines, theaters, and businesses, has an on-site laundry facility, community room, and an on-site resident manager. The Station is unique from most apartment complexes in that it offers welcome aboard packets for new residents, tickets to civic and social events, group activities, e.g. picnics, trips to baseball games, referrals to social services as needed, and crisis intervention. Provides permanent independent rentals for low to moderate income families. Provides a community and family-like living environment. Sponsors fun and educational opportunities for residents. Controlled access entrance. Units are available for seniors who are 55 years of age or older. Please call 727-1335 for further information. Homeless Transitional Housing: Samaritan Inn The Samaritan Inn is transitional residential living with supportive services for up to 12 homeless adult men at a time. Men may stay for up to 24 months. It is the only HUD-approved transitional housing for adult males in the Kanawha Valley. The Innis conveniently located in downtown Charleston, close to bus lines and businesses. Upon entry, each resident works with staff to establish individualized goals designed to overcome the obstacles to permanent, independent living. Each resident is required to work, and pay up to 30% of his income in rent, maintain his own living area, share the cooking and cleaning responsibilities, participate in a life skills curriculum, substance abuse education, case management, and participate in community volunteer activities. Provides a safe environment to recover from homelessness. Offers services that permanently change the lives of men who have been homeless.
