Description:

Assists families who are "at risk" of being homeless, or need emergency food, clothing, and financial assistance. Families are eligible for food vouchers once per month and clothing vouchers once every three months. In most cases, families who apply for services are seen initially as walk-ins without a scheduled appointment. Existing families who have received services previously are required to schedule an appointment. Furniture vouchers are given to individuals or families who have experienced domestic violence, fire, flood, or release from a homeless shelter or homeless situation. Families are eligible for utility or rental assistance once every 12 months. Free coat giveaway each year, usually on the 4th Saturday of October. Sponsors two special holiday food giveaways per year for Thanksgiving and for Christmas. It is usually held on the Saturday prior to the holiday. Clients must pre-register to pick up holiday food at one of six churches located in Kanawha County.
