Description:
The Clarksburg-Harrison Regional Housing Authority owns and operates three (3) public housing properties designed for low to moderate income families and individuals who don't want rents to exceed their ability to pay. Several offer recreational activities and educational programs. CHRHA has different types of housing, from efficient apartments to multi-family townhouses. CHRHA has 326 units of housing. HUD administers federal assistance to CHRHA so that it may offer housing at rents the family can afford. Public housing is limited to low to moderate income families and individuals. In order to be eligible, a family must meet four tests: they must qualify as a family, they must have an annual income at or below program income limits, each family member must have a Social Security number and the household size must be appropriate per the occupancy standards defined. Additionally, every applicant must meet selection criteria determining their suitability as a tenant. If you are interested in applying for public housing, you may apply by visiting the Clarksburg-Harrison Regional Housing Authority's Administrative Office Complex at 433 Baltimore Avenue in the Glen Elk area of Clarksburg during the hours of 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Thursdays. Applications must be in writing. When you have completed an application, a CHRHA representative will discuss the application with you, including reviewing the information important to determining your eligibility, as well as providing additional information on the public housing program. CHRHA requests the following documentation needed to verify the information given to us on your application. 1. Birth certificates for each member in the household. 2. Social Security cards for each member in the household. 3. Verification of any type of income in the household (i.e. pay stubs for at least 90 days if possible or a paper with letterhead for employer stating gross pay per week/or bi-weekly, a printout from Social Security if receiving any benefits from Social Security Administration or from Department of Health and Human Resources). If there is no income at all you must sign a form, provided by the Clarksburg-Harrison Regional Housing Authority stating there is no income. 4. List four (4) personal references; not relatives or previous landlords. This information must have complete mailing addresses and phone numbers. 5. List landlords up to 3 years with complete mailing addresses and phone numbers. If you are offered an apartment or townhouse and you accept it, you will have to sign a lease with CHRHA, and will be expected to give a security deposit. CHRHA will review the terms of the lease and house rules with you. Your rent is based on your family's anticipated gross annual income less deductions and income disregards. Deductions are given for dependents in a family, elderly or disability status, some medical expenses for families headed by an elderly person or person with disabilities, full-time employment or full-time participation in post-secondary education.
